The first "43" engine handcrafted in the AMG "One man, one engine" tradition applies technology from Formula 1® racing to advance performance with efficiency. A pioneering electric exhaust-gas turbocharger and belt-driven Starter-Generator team with advanced fuel injection, friction reduction and multi-level engine cooling. The result is an impressive output of 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from a compact, lightweight and decidedly modern 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.
The AMG GT 43's innovative electric exhaust-gas turbocharger is derived from the race-winning technology of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1® team. A thin 48-volt electric motor, integrated directly on the shaft between the turbine and compressor wheels, can accelerate the compressor before the exhaust-gas flow takes over. The innovative 175,000-peak-rpm turbo helps maintain boost pressure and improve engine response from idle to high rpm, even when the driver lifts off the gas.
The 9-speed multiclutch transmission's AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT technology shortens shift times and offers quick multi-gear downshifts. A wet startup clutch eliminates the torque converter, improving performance and, along with a magnesium casing, saving weight. The AMG DYNAMIC SELECT Sport, Sport+ and RACE programs, as well as a selectable Manual mode, progressively quicken upshifts and rev-match downshifts.
AMG DYNAMIC SELECT lets you dial in the car's performance character via cockpit controls. The system offers Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Slippery modes, plus an Individual mode you can configure a la carte. Each mode includes settings for the engine and throttle response, shift timing, 4MATIC® control, ESP, suspension, exhaust sound, ECO Start/Stop system, rear-axle steering and more. In addition, adjacent pushbuttons let you adjust each setting on its own while in any mode.
Along with a spectrum of gloss and matte paint colors, AMG® wheel and styling options let you personalize your GT's presence. Wheels range up to 21-inch forged options in silver, black, gold or grey. Styling packages add gloss black, carbon fiber or functional aero elements.
Advanced DIGITAL LIGHT LED headlamps can adapt to curves, darkness and oncoming traffic. Integrated Daytime Running Lamps feature a distinctive three-element design that's echoed in the LED taillamps. Cabin lighting offers 64 colors of ambience you can custom-tailor.
AMG logos illuminate in a soft white glow as you open either door, to welcome you into the cabin or ease your exit.
Heating elements within the steering wheel rim can rapidly take the chill out of your hands on a cold morning. After a few minutes, the heating level is automatically reduced to maintain lasting comfort.
The dash, console, armrests and doors are elegantly upholstered and topstitched.
A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the GT bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. In addition to providing rich, precise bass throughout the interior, the design saves weight and frees up space in the cabin and doors.
A leap in ease and efficiency pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, KEYLESS-GO® lets you unlock, start and drive away without removing the SmartKey from your pocket or purse. You can lock and unlock the doors with a touch of the exterior handles. Seamless door handles retract flush with the bodywork, yet can extend to greet your hand as you approach. The handles can automatically deploy in special situations, such as after an accident.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.
Interpreting information that is continually supplied by the car's Electronic Stability Program (ESP®), electric power steering and suspension sensors, Crosswind Assist can help detect the effects of strong side winds on the vehicle's handling stability at highway speeds. Whether caused by lateral gusts or even a passing truck, the system can help keep the car on course via strategic braking of the wheels on one side of the vehicle.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, Exit Warning Assist can alert the driver or passenger to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.
