Handcrafted AMG 2.0L inline-4 turbo with hybrid assist

The first "43" engine handcrafted in the AMG "One man, one engine" tradition applies technology from Formula 1^® racing to advance performance with efficiency. A pioneering electric exhaust-gas turbocharger and belt-driven Starter-Generator team with advanced fuel injection, friction reduction and multi-level engine cooling. The result is V8-worthy output of 402 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from a compact, lightweight and decidedly modern 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.

Electric exhaust-gas turbocharger

A series production first, the C 43's electric exhaust-gas turbocharger is derived from the race-winning technology of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1^® team. A thin 48-volt electric motor, integrated directly on the shaft between the turbine and compressor wheels, can accelerate the compressor before the exhaust-gas flow takes over. The innovative 175,000-peak-rpm turbo helps maintain boost pressure and improve engine response from idle to high rpm, even when the driver lifts off the gas.

Hybrid Starter-Generator

Electrifying the handcrafted AMG inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative belt-driven Starter-Generator (RSG). It can generate a brief burst of 13 additional, gas-free horsepower, for even more enthusiastic yet efficient response. It also teams with the car's 48-volt electrical architecture to support gliding, recuperation and stop/start functions to seamlessly enhance efficiency.

AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission

A 9-speed multiclutch transmission is effective, efficient and enjoyable. AMG SPEEDSHIFT^® MCT technology shortens shift times and offers quick multi-gear downshifts. A wet startup clutch eliminates the torque converter, to improve performance and help save weight. The Manual shift mode, and the Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT can quicken upshifts and rev-match downshifts, while the Individual mode offer a Glide feature to help save fuel when coasting.

FrontBass system

A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the C-Class bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. 11.9-inch touchscreen central multimedia display

The large, portrait-oriented 11.9-inch central touchscreen offers more easily visible readouts, available navigation maps, and illustrated and animated menus. An advanced menu concept lets you display multiple functions at once, and keeps frequently used features such as the climate control readily accessible. In addition, you can access the screen via the right Touch Control Button on the steering wheel.

USB-C charging port

7 air bags

An advanced system of 7 air bags offers 9-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags and combined thorax/pelvic bags for the driver and front passenger, plus a knee air bag for the driver, and side curtain air bags for both seating rows.

Brake Assist (BAS)

Brake Assist (BAS^®) can sense emergency braking via the speed at which the driver presses the brake pedal and immediately apply maximum available power boost. Brake Assist can potentially reduce the overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by a common human tendency not to brake hard enough, soon enough. Letting up on the brake pedal releases Brake Assist.

GUARD 360° security system

GUARD 360^® offers enhanced vehicle security beyond the standard antitheft alarm. It can help detect if your parked vehicle experiences certain impact types likely to cause damage. It can push a damage notification to your phone via the Mercedes me connect app, and display a message next time you start the car. And if equipped, the available Surround View cameras can also take time-stamped images around the car's exterior, which you can view on your phone or in the car's multimedia display.

Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.
