ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

Selective damping system

Engineered specifically for performance driving, selective damping automatically adjusts the individual shock absorbers based on the road surface and the driver's current driving style. Valving inside each shock absorber automatically firms up during stronger body motions for sharper handling feedback and stability, and reduces the damping rates during gentler motions for a smoother, more composed ride.

And unlike conventional wind deflectors, the rear seats remain fully usable.

Dual-zone automatic climate control

Separate left and right digital temperature controls allow driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system automatically adapts when you lower or raise the soft top. Rain-sensing windshield wipers can automatically adjust the intermittent wiper frequency based on the amount of rainfall.

10 air bags

An advanced system of 10 air bags offers 12-way occupant protection. Standard are dual two-stage front air bags, combined thorax/pelvic bags, and knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, plus side curtain air bags for both seating rows. Side-impact air bags are also standard for each outboard rear seating position.

Dual pop-up roll bars

Integrated behind each rear seating position, pop-up roll bars deploy within a third of a second of detecting an impending rollover, to help preserve occupant space.

PRE-SAFE

A Mercedes-Benz first, PRE-SAFE® can detect instability during certain vehicle maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the front windows, all in an effort to better prepare the occupants and restraints in the moments before a collision. If no accident occurs, the seat-belt tensioners reverse, and you simply readjust your seat, open the sunroof and continue on your way.
