The acclaimed AMG biturbo V8 propels performance into a new era. Generating 603 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from a modest 4.0 liters, it can rush to 60 in 4.1 seconds and deliver swift response at any speed. Its "hot inside V" turbo location cuts lag and losses. An electric Integrated Starter-Generator can efficiently add gas-free torque. AMG Cylinder Management can seamlessly deactivate four cylinders. Yet even with its advancements, each V8 is still hand-built and signed by its own craftsman.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the V8 biturbo gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, plus a power supply for formerly belt-driven components like the water pump and air-conditioning compressor. These advancements help reduce weight and enhance underhood packaging. And it can generate additional power and torque for immediate response 100% electrically.

ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for quick acceleration response. An added benefit of the Integrated Starter-Generator is how it can make the restart process more seamlessly smooth than ever before. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

Dynamic engine mounts

Computer-controlled dynamic engine mounts further elevate performance. They're filled with magnetorheological fluid that can be stiffened progressively via electrical current. By individually optimizing their support, they can maximize handling precision in extreme driving, yet deliver smooth refinement in normal driving.

Flared wheel arches are filled out by massive yet lightweight AMG^® wheels in seven available styles, three of them in matte black. Sizes start at 21 inches and can be optioned up to 23 inches. The AMG Night Package details the body with gloss black elements.

LED Intelligent Light System

Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, active LED headlamps can generate light that's perceived much like natural daylight. Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist continuously adjust the beam pattern of the LEDs in each headlamp to help maximize the illumination of corners and straightaways, without creating glare for other drivers. An Ultra Wide Highbeam feature is designed to better illuminate the road and the environment along either side.

Panorama roof

Offering sweeping skyward views to 1st- and 2nd-row passengers, this fully functional glass sunroof features a front panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide over the rear panel for an open-air feeling. Dual interior power shades allow occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. A 50% larger viewing area lets passengers enjoy a greater view of the sun and stars.

Power-folding 50/50-split 3rd-row seats

The 50/50-split 3rd-row seats in the GLS can be individually folded flat in less than five seconds at the touch of a button. When used in combination with the standard power-folding 2nd-row seats, this standard appointment gives you easy access to nearly 85 cu ft of cargo space. A single button in the cargo area lets you fold down all the rear seats with one touch.

12.3-inch touchscreen multimedia display

A widescreen color display with multitouch interface makes it easy to access a world of features, including audio, MB Navigation, phone and vehicle settings. In addition to the three input methods of the standard screen (touchscreen, console touchpad, and Touch Control steering wheel), it also responds to the advanced voice control you activate by saying "Hey, Mercedes." Predictive features can learn and anticipate your commands, while you can save groups of settings as themes and moods.

Front-cabin wireless charging with NFC pairing

Advanced NFC technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive tray in the console lets you charge your device's battery as you drive, without plugging it in. Pairing your device with the vehicle can be performed by simply holding your device near a pairing point in the console. Once paired, your vehicle can recognize when you enter the car with the device, and quickly establish secure wireless data transfer automatically.

Active Lane Change Assist

When cruising with DISTRONIC^® engaged, this innovation can allow the driver to execute a lane change simply by activating a turn signal for a sufficient number of seconds. The system is designed to sense when you're traveling on a multilane highway, and whether the area across the dashed lane marking is clear for a lane-change, then precisely steer into the adjacent lane.

PRE-SAFE PLUS

An enhancement to the groundbreaking PRE-SAFE^® system can help protect the occupants in a rear-end collision. A radar sensor in the rear bumper can help detect an impending impact, and engage the features of PRE-SAFE to better prepare the front-seat occupants and their restraint systems. It can also firmly apply and hold the brakes, to help reduce peak loads on all occupants as well as the risk of a secondary collision.

Active Stop-and-Go Assist

This system enables the vehicle to recognize when you're approaching a traffic jam earlier while using Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC^® cruise control. The system then actively supports you in negotiating the stop-and-go driving at speeds up to 37 mph, with stops of up to a minute, to make it easier and less stressful.

Traffic Sign Assist

Traffic Sign Assist can detect posted speed-limit signs and, along with information in the navigation system's map database, display the limit on the dash. It can also alert you when you exceed the limit.
