The first "43" engine handcrafted in the AMG "One man, one engine" tradition applies technology from Formula 1® racing to advance performance with efficiency. A pioneering electric exhaust-gas turbocharger and Integrated Starter-Generator team with advanced fuel injection, friction reduction and multi-level engine cooling. The result is V8-worthy output of 416 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque from a compact, lightweight and decidedly modern 2.0L 4-cylinder engine.
The GLC 43's electric exhaust-gas turbocharger is derived from the race-winning technology of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1® team. A thin 48-volt electric motor, integrated directly on the shaft between the turbine and compressor wheels, can accelerate the compressor before the exhaust-gas flow takes over. The innovative 175,000-peak-rpm turbo helps maintain boost pressure and improve engine response from idle to high rpm, even when the driver lifts off the gas.
Electrifying the handcrafted AMG inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative belt-driven Starter-Generator (RSG). It can generate a brief burst of 13 additional, gas-free horsepower, for even more enthusiastic yet efficient response. It also teams with the car's 48-volt electrical architecture to support gliding, recuperation and stop/start functions to seamlessly enhance efficiency.
A 9-speed multiclutch transmission is effective, efficient and enjoyable. AMG SPEEDSHIFT® MCT technology shortens shift times and offers quick multi-gear downshifts. A wet startup clutch eliminates the torque converter, to improve performance and help save weight. The Manual shift mode, and the Sport and Sport+ modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT can quicken upshifts and rev-match downshifts, while the Individual mode offer a Glide feature to help save fuel when coasting.
Aggressively sculpted lower bodywork and the AMG vertical-bar grille leave no doubt to the experience awaiting the driver. Also fusing style and function are the LED headlamps, available with advanced DIGITAL LIGHT technology.
AMG® wheels are available in a variety of 20-inch or 21-inch designs, with the GLC 63 adding two forged options. They're all staggered in width, and designed for efficient airflow and effective brake cooling.
AMG styling packages progressively embolden the AMG GLC exterior with a variety of gloss black, aero and carbon fiber accents. Each model offers a variety of options.
Capacitive touch buttons on the twin-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel put cockpit features at your thumbs. The AMG DRIVE UNIT keeps key performance settings at hand. Microfiber and a carbon design can accent the Nappa leather rim.
Standard front sport seats feature heating and memory. You can also opt for the deeper bolsters and integrated head restraints of AMG Performance seats, inspired by racing seats to enthusiastically support you in spirited driving.
Separate left and right temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to enjoy personalized comfort. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes a dust and pollen filter that helps keep particles as small as 0.0002-inch from entering the cabin.
A leap forward in audio quality, FrontBass takes advantage of the GLC bodyshell by utilizing the rigid front frame members as resonance chambers for an under-dash subwoofer. In addition to providing rich, precise bass throughout the interior, the design saves weight and frees up space in the cabin and doors.
All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are protected by our New Vehicle Limited Warranty, covering defects in material or workmanship for 48-months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. For added protection, the Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty offers continued peace of mind with prolonged coverage tailored to your needs.
An important enhancement to the industry-first PRE-SAFE® system can help reduce the effects of a collision on occupants' hearing. When the sensors of PRE-SAFE detect an impending impact, it can emit a special "pink noise" tone via the audio system just before the collision. The tone's frequency is tuned to pre-trigger a natural reflex within the human ear canal that helps shut out loud noises in advance of the actual impact.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST® can continuously monitor up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.
The advanced Surround View System uses cameras in all four directions to compose a single, live overhead view of your immediate surroundings. Displayed on the central in-dash screen during low-speed maneuvers, it can help you avoid obstacles as you negotiate tight spaces, whether you're moving forward or backing up.
