3.0L inline-6 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

The seamless power and natural balance of an inline-6 pair with another Mercedes-Benz tradition: a technological leap ahead. The lightweight, beltless engine's Integrated Starter-Generator can add up to 20 hp electrically, to allow gas-free coasting and recapture energy during deceleration. With a twin-scroll turbo, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing NANOSLIDE cylinder walls, the gas engine outputs 375 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque on its own, for smooth, efficient response.

Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator

Electrifying the inline-6 gasoline engine is an innovative Integrated Starter-Generator. It teams with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to supply power for formerly belt-driven components like the water pump and air-conditioning compressor. These advancements help reduce weight and enhance underhood packaging. The electric assist can also generate an additional 20 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque gas-free, for immediate response.

ECO Start/Stop system

An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for quick acceleration response. An added benefit of the Integrated Starter-Generator is how it can make the restart process more seamlessly smooth than ever before. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

DYNAMIC SELECT

A selector on the console lets you vary the vehicle's performance character to suit your needs or your mood. DYNAMIC SELECT offers four preset modes: ECO, Comfort, Sport and Off-Road, plus an Individual mode you can personalize. Each mode adapts throttle response, shift points, ESP and more, with Off-Road tailored for dirt, gravel and sand. The AIRMATIC^® suspension also adapts the damping rate in the various modes.

Offering sweeping skyward views to 1st- and 2nd-row passengers, this fully functional glass sunroof features a front panel that can either tilt up for ventilation or slide over the rear panel for an open-air feeling. Dual interior power shades allow occupants to adjust the amount of sunlight entering the cabin. A 50% larger viewing area lets passengers enjoy a greater view of the sun and stars.

LED Intelligent Light System

Pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, active LED headlamps can generate light that's perceived much like natural daylight. Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist continuously adjust the beam pattern of the LEDs in each headlamp to help maximize the illumination of corners and straightaways, without creating glare for other drivers. An ULTRA RANGE Highbeam feature is designed to better illuminate the road and the environment along either side.

Exquisitely detailed metal speaker grilles are as rewarding to the eyes as the system's output is to the most discerning ears.

64-color LED ambient lighting

A network of LEDs let you create cabin ambience to suit your mood. Edge-lighting outlines the dash/door trim and console grips, and casts a glow in the footwells, door handles and door pockets. Along with 64 selectable colors and adjustable brightness, numerous programs let you enjoy two colors at once, or slowly changing hues. The dash lighting briefly acknowledges your climate-control adjustments. And a "light show" greets your arrival.

Power tilt/telescoping steering column

To help you find your ideal driving position, the steering column power-adjusts up/down and in/out at the touch of a button. The settings can also be stored in the 3-position driver-seat memory.

4-zone automatic climate control

Four individual zones offer personalized comfort to each side of the front cabin, the second row, and the third row. In addition to fully automatic or manual control of blower speed and airflow distribution, the system includes sun and humidity sensors, a dust/pollen filter, and an activated charcoal filter that automatically recirculates cabin air upon detecting a significant increase in smog. The in-dash controls can adjust all zones, while a 2nd-row panel can also adjust the rear cabin.

Multiple USB-C ports

State-of-the-art USB-C connectors allow plug-and-play enjoyment from your compatible devices as well as fast charging of your phone. With two in the front console, two in the second row that offer 100W fast charging, and four more in the third row, there's a port within reach of every passenger.

7-seat cabin configuration

Offering first-class comfort in all three rows has long been a hallmark of the GLS, a benefit of its spacious size and advanced suspension. The redesigned cabin enhances comfort for all aboard: The second row features standard power seats, increased legroom, and 40/20/40-split folding seatbacks. The third row offers room for two adults, along with enhanced luxuries from climate to cupholders to charging ports. It also power-folds in a 50/50 split to increase cargo space.

Active Blind Spot Assist

At most driving speeds, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area on either side of you, and alert you by illuminating an icon in the appropriate side mirror. If you activate a turn signal while a vehicle is detected, it can sound a warning tone while a display appears in the instrument cluster. And if you begin to change lanes, advanced active technology can help guide the car back by selectively braking individual wheels.

PRE-SAFE PLUS

An enhancement to the groundbreaking PRE-SAFE^® system can help protect the occupants in a rear-end collision.
