Hybrid Starter-Generator

Electrifying the handcrafted inline-4 gasoline engine is an innovative belt-driven Starter-Generator (RSG). It can generate a brief burst of 13 additional, gas-free horsepower, for even more enthusiastic yet efficient response. It also teams with the car's 48-volt electrical architecture to support gliding, recuperation and stop/start functions to seamlessly enhance efficiency.

Front-wheel drive

The GLA front-wheel drive system is an ideal match for its nimble handling and efficient packaging. Impeccable calibration of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Electronic Traction System (ETS) enhances tire bite under hard acceleration, while equal-length driveshafts virtually eliminate undesirable torque steer.

2.0L inline-4 turbo engine with mild hybrid drive

Mild hybrid electrification advances the 221-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine. Its 48-volt architecture and a belt-driven Starter-Generator allow fuel-free coasting, and can recapture energy during deceleration. It can also supply up to 13 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque for added response on demand. And the gasoline engine is further enhanced with a more efficient turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift, and friction-reducing CONICSHAPE cylinders with NANOSLIDE walls.

Electronic Traction System

ESP, our standard Electronic Stability Program, also incorporates our Electronic Traction System (ETS), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and can respondto ensure torque is sent to the front wheel with better grip.

LED headlamps and taillamps

With longer life, quicker illumination and beams that approximate daylight even more closely than xenon headlamps, multi-element LED headlamps can enhance both vision and visibility during nighttime driving. LED Daytime Running Lamps and front turn signals are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. Press a button on the driver's door or the underside of the liftgate and it powers itself closed. A sensor automatically stops the liftgate if it detects an obstruction, and you can set the system to limit the opening height, useful under low ceilings.

Power front seats with 3-position memory

Intuitive, seat-shaped controls help you find your ideal driving position with 8-way power adjustment, including 4-way power lumbar support. A memory system for each front seat recalls three stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power side mirror positions. Both front seats also feature adjustable cushion length, for optimal thigh support and added comfort.

64-color LED ambient lighting with illuminated vents

A network of LEDs let you create cabin ambience to suit your mood. Edge-lighting outlines the dash/door trim and console, while casting a glow in the dash vents, footwells, door handles and door pockets. Along with 64 selectable colors, three cabin zones and adjustable brightness, numerous programs let you enjoy two colors at once, and either static or slowly changing hues. A "light show" greets your arrival, while the dash vent lighting briefly acknowledges your climate-control adjustments.

KEYLESS-GO

A leap in ease and efficiency pioneered by Mercedes-Benz, KEYLESS-GO^® lets you unlock, start and drive away without removing the SmartKey from your pocket or purse. You can lock and unlock the doors with a touch of the exterior handles, and start the engine by stepping on the brake pedal and pushing the KEYLESS-START button on the dash.

Bluetooth audio streaming

Bluetooth audio streaming makes it even easier to enjoy your digital music player. It allows you to connect your Bluetooth-equipped audio device wirelessly to your vehicle's audio system for convenient, cable-free playback.

Inductive wireless charging and NFC pairing

Advanced NFC technology allows wireless charging of a compatible phone or other device that supports the Qi standard. An inductive tray in the console lets you charge your device's battery as you drive, without plugging it in. Pairing your device with the vehicle can be performed by simply holding your device near a pairing point in the console. Advanced Tire Pressure Monitoring System

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) can automatically detect a substantial loss of tire pressure in any wheel and alert the driver via a warning message in the multifunction display. The advanced TPMS can also display the numeric tire pressure for each mounted wheel.

ATTENTION ASSIST

The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST^® continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior, and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy, and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a dashboard display.

Adaptive braking technology

Adaptive braking technology integrates a suite of advances. If you lift off the accelerator quickly, Predictive Brake Priming can set the pads closer to the discs for more immediate response when you apply the brakes. In the rain, Automatic Brake Drying can periodically apply the brakes just enough to sweep water build-up from the discs. During uphill starts, Hill-Start Assist can help prevent unwanted rollback. And a brake HOLD feature can make long red lights or stopped traffic a little easier.
